Jude is a professional oboist with extensive experience in classical, folk, contemporary and early music. Jude trained under the auspices of Jenni Phillips and George Caird at Birmingham Conservatoire picking up recognition and plaudits on the way. As a postgraduate she specialised in contemporary music and improvisation. After a brief spell as an orchestral manager for a pit band at the Birmingham Alexandra Theatre, Jude became a founding member of the critically acclaimed folk group 'Isambarde', and has subsequently has performed and recorded with luminaries of the English folk scene such as Phil Beer (Show of Hands) and Dave Swarbrick (Fairport Convention). Most recently she was invited to join BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award nominated band ‘Pilgrims’ Way’. Pilgrims’ Way’s combine a colourful array of musical influences with blistering live performances and full-on instrumental attack.

Jude has had a long time love affair with early music. After meeting renowned instrument maker Eric Moulder, she started playing the shawm; from there she has championed a wide variety of period instruments including English bagpipes, rauschpfife, curtal, crumhorn and bombarde. Consequently, she has had a prolific career playing at heritage sites and for concerts and shows all over the UK. In 2013 Jude joined Eric’s renaissance consort ‘Piva’ with whom she has played up and down the country and on the continent.

As a sought-after session musician, Jude has guested on numerous albums and arranged strings and brass for studio projects.
